Welcome to the Milbridge Theatre and Community Arts Center
Milbridge Theatre is a community-based, nonprofit theater that hosts a variety of events and movie screenings. As a non-profit organization, we are dedicated to providing a space for the local community to come together and experience the arts. Our theater offers a welcoming and inclusive environment for people of all ages to enjoy live performances, independent films, and other cultural events.
The Milbridge Theatre was an important piece of our town's social fabric for nearly 80 years. Following the owner’s death and the theatre’s subsequent closure, a group of determined Milbridge residents formed Gateway Milbridge to help with an overall revitalization effort for downtown Milbridge.
The theatre has been a community icon since it was built in 1937. Area residents relied on the theatre for entertainment and gathering because such opportunities here are few and often a great distance away. It was one of the few facilities Milbridge had for creating a strong sense of community and belonging for our residents of all ages. Generations of our region's youth spent countless weekends of their lives at this theatre engaging in much-needed social and cultural experiences. The theatre's closure left an economic void in the center of our downtown.
